Romania

Romania is a country which is trying to re-establish a tourism identity having got a bad press during the Communist era and, subsequently, arousing interest in Transylvania.

There are other tours on offer, but we have decided to look primarily at the capital, Bucharest and, yes, Dracula's Transylvania. We would normally describe these as "taster" visits.....

Long weekend in Bucharest

(Prices are £350 per person in a double room)

What this includes: transfers, 3 nights' accommodation in a centrally located 4 star hotel, half board, local taxes, guided tours of Bucharest and castles.

(Travel to Romania and incidental expenses are not included)

Arrive Friday - From the hotel depart on a tour of Bucharest, dinner in the oldest brewery in Bucharest

Saturday: tour of the Prahova valley famed for its castles (including Dracula's castle), lunch on a farm, visit to the citadel at Rajnov and the city of Brasov.

Sunday: Guided tours - Bucharest, Open Air Museum, walking tour and then dinner in a bistro.

Monday: free time and then transfer to the airport.

Transylvanian Romance

Who says romance is dead? Try this self-drive break though and around Transylvania, including accommodation, dinners, a ride in a horse-drawn carriage/sled, car rental (with fully comprehensive insurance) oh and champagne and roses in the room in one of the hotels.

Stay in the "House of Dracula", visit the city of Brasov and the mediaeval town of Sighisoara.

Cost per person? The cost per person is £375 not including travel to/from Romania.

We have decided that we do not need to "re-invent the wheel" by setting up our own operations within these countries.

Instead, we have reliable partners in each of the countries. This has the advantage that, should anything go wrong or assistance is required, local help can be given more readily.
